A toilet gives more than health. It restores dignity.
Toilet facility is a must-have for every house, yet not all families are privileged.
We have identified 269 families with 1,591 children living in 7 tea estates in Central Sri Lanka who do not have proper toilet facilities. Majority are used to open defecation while the alternative may sometimes be common toilets which are most often in very bad condition.
Building them proper toilet facilities will not only improve their health but also provide girls and women much-needed protection from sexual abuse and exploitation. Water-borne diseases and childhood illnesses would reduce and women will have more privacy and security
World Vision will also give them awareness on good sanitation and hygiene practices.
