Children are the most vulnerable victims of any crisis. Even though the impact of Sri Lanka’s economic crisis is being felt gradually lesser, the economically vulnerable families are yet to recover from it. The education of children has been one that the neediest communities were not able to address. This is why this Christmas, we are gifting hope for the children, ensuring that essential school material and supplies pave the way for their education.
We have identified 350 children from four different areas, both within WVL and in collaboration with Child Action Lanka, a partner organization. These children from Ganga Ihala Korale, Walapane, Galle and Kandy, desperately need your help to further their education. Every child deserves an education. A gift, big or small, goes a long way. This can be anything from a pencil to a backpack. You will also have the possibility to write a letter to a child to go along with their gift, children will get to pick a Santa as they receive their gifts for the school year. This will definitely add an extra Christmas cheer.
Your handwritten letter can be sent to World Vision Lanka via post, or it can be dropped off at the office or scanned and sent through one of our social media platforms. The stationery items needed can be found under the 'reports' and 'info' tab. Anyone in the Colombo area, can drop off their donation or gift (and letter) into donation boxes placed in our World Vision Lanka National Office lobby.
